Following her completion of a one-year fashion and textiles program at the Material Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana, Donaka Katherine discovered her passion for knitwear and conceptual design. Specializing in both hand and machine knitting, she has also developed skills in natural dyeing. With a background in psychology, focusing on community psychology research, Donaka views fashion through an interpersonal lens, examining its impact on individuals and society. This perspective influences her creation of conceptual knitwear pieces that evoke relatable emotions in innovative ways. Donaka founded her brand, DK Knitwear, in December 2022, where she designs both ready-to-wear and high-fashion knit products.
